AKl Race Time Lap
The time and lap calculator is here to help predict your finish time. It gives you an idea of whether you will finish before any cut-off times and helps ensure everyone has a great day, knowing what to expect and what’s ahead.
If you love the idea of racing without the run leg chasing you down, the Aquabike 16.5 is the perfect hit of speed and simplicity. Two disciplines, low stress, and all the buzz of race day — minus the pounding pavement.
You’ll kick things off with a crisp 500 m swim in Mission Bay. It’s close to shore, easy to navigate, and packed with atmosphere. Supporters line the beach, the calls get louder with every breath you take, and before you know it you’re heading for transition feeling fired up.
Then it’s onto the bike — the heart of the event.
The 16 km course along Tāmaki Drive is smooth, scenic, and built for momentum. Settle into your gears, find your rhythm, and enjoy riding a loop that’s fast enough to test your legs while still being friendly for beginners. With no run waiting at the end, you can push the watts a little harder than usual and enjoy that rare “I-can-empty-the-tank” feeling.
Crowds on the footpaths, cafés buzzing, riders spreading out along the road — it all makes for a seriously fun, high-energy lap around Auckland’s most iconic waterfront.
This one’s strictly non-drafting, so it’s all about your effort, your honesty, and your own clean race.

Prizegiving kicks off at 2:30 pm, so grab a long lunch at one of the local cafés, refuel, relax, and then come back to soak up the atmosphere. It’s always a great way to wrap up the day — celebrating the legends who raced and maybe walking away with something special yourself.
Swim — 1 hour (average ≈ 3:00 per 100 m)
Bike — 3 hours 30 minutes (average ≈ 23 km/h)
Run — cut-off 2:30 pm
Bike course closes at 10:30 am, and the run cut-off is 11:30 am (though you can still finish under your own steam if you’re determined to get it done — we’ll keep the clock running a little past “pack-down o’clock,” just without marshals).
Live all day on race day — so your friends and family can track exactly how long you really spent in transition. The link will go live on the website and be posted to Facebook on race morning.
